With 79 years of expertise, Galenika is one of the oldest pharmaceutical companies from the former Yugoslavia that is still in operation and among the more established ones in Europe. However, it is also a company constantly focused on the future, offering high-quality and effective modern-generation products for health preservation.
Through this milestone, Galenika has demonstrated its strong appreciation for people. The company’s anniversary conveys a powerful message of unity and teamwork under the slogan: Enduring Success, Valuable People. And the stars of the campaign we have seen are precisely the employees from different sectors of Galenika.
“Galenika is an international company and a regional leader in the production of pharmaceutical products designed to ensure health and improve quality of life. This year, the company celebrated its 79th anniversary, an important milestone that speaks to resilience, innovation, quality, and expertise. Above all, it speaks to our greatest strength—our people and the Galenika team. That is why the campaign is named: Enduring Success – Valuable People,” said Jelena Parojčić, Executive Director of Human Resources at Galenika.
Decades of accumulated knowledge and experience illustrate Galenika’s mission of health, which remains continuously focused on the present and future healthcare needs of patients and consumers. Jelena Parojčić emphasizes that Galenika today represents a fusion of diversity and opportunity, balancing tradition and experience with a strong focus on the future. She adds: “We are witnessing a constant transformation of expectations—both from consumers and patients as well as from our employees. That is why we strive not only to meet expectations but also to anticipate them. The development of a modern company’s business depends greatly on planning and investment, and at Galenika, we continuously invest in people and teams, the development of a modern portfolio, production, digitalization, safety, and environmental protection. As a result of all these efforts—which make me extremely proud—Galenika is a company dedicated to health and prevention through continuous investments and innovation. Internally, it is a company of diversity and opportunity, making it an excellent employer.”
A key factor in successful business operations is a positive and stimulating work environment. Career paths are carefully planned, and investment in people and education is a vital component. Each year, Galenika systematically increases the number of hours dedicated to employee education and training. In addition to hiring new talent, nearly 50 employees have celebrated 20, 30, or even 40 years of service at Galenika this year alone. The company employs professionals from over a hundred different educational backgrounds and levels, with the majority holding higher education degrees from various natural sciences faculties. Notably, 63% of managerial positions at Galenika are held by women, significantly exceeding the market average.
Our interviewee particularly emphasizes the importance of investing in diversity, equality, and inclusion, which have a broader positive social impact. This commitment also influences the future of the industry by increasing the representation of women in the natural sciences.
A beloved brand and a company of experts, Galenika has come a long way since its founding in 1945—from establishing basic production and expanding first within the former Yugoslavia, then beyond, even outside Europe, to securing a strong regional position today. Thanks to the quality and efficiency of its products, Galenika is now present on three continents.
